CORE VALUES
We believe that true worship is a lifestyle. The act of worship comes from who we are in Christ. He has given us a new identity; we don’t just have a time of worship, we are worshipers. Because we are worshipers we are to devote our time, resources, attention and affection to Him in every area of our lives. Playing with our kids, encouraging friends, working conscientiously and gathering together with other believers to sing, read the Word and express our love for God and one another are all forms of Worship.
Col 3:16, 17; John 4:23, Acts 2:46
We believe that every person, Christian and Non-Christian alike, deserves the love, acceptance and forgiveness of every member of our church. Our basis for granting such favor to people lies in the incredible love that God has demonstrated to us on the cross of Christ. We believe that love is the motive for evangelizing and discipleship.
1 Corinthians 13:1, 1 John 2:9-11
Everything God has done in our lives is unproven until it is refined and demonstrated in the midst of our relationships. We therefore believe that participation in small groups is vitally important to Christian growth. There is simply not enough time or opportunity in a church service to have meaningful interaction around Biblical truth or to share in the affirmation, acceptance and accountability that we all need.
Acts 2:46, 1 Corinthians 13:1, Philippians 2:1-3
We believe that God has given everyone gifts and abilities to serve the Body of Christ and the community. We believe that our individual role becomes vital to the church and rewarding to us personally as we learn to serve the Lord selflessly, in the area of our gifting, along with a team of people who share the same goal.
1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Philippians 2:3, 4
We believe that genuine love and caring relationships are the key to fulfilling any ministry effort in the church. Refusing to give in or listen to a spirit of complaining, we will be courageous in solving problems in a way that honors God and builds Biblical character. We value healthy relationships by protecting the unity of the spirit in our church.
James 1:2, 3, 1 Peter 4:8, 9 1 Corinthians 13
We believe that the Body of Christ is God’s family and is much larger than our church. Therefore, we believe in being unified with, and in fellowship with, other churches from our community whenever the opportunity arises. We believe that interacting with one another in an effort to reach our city makes our church stronger and wiser in fulfilling The Great Commission.
John 17:21-23, Ecclesiastes 4:9
We believe that God’s Word should be the source, guide and inspiration for all of the practices and ministries that our church is involved with. There are obviously events and activities unique to our American lifestyle that are not recorded in the Bible. However, we can evaluate the spirit of, and the end result of, everything that we do according to scriptural truth.
